This post will guide you on How to Enter Recovery Mode on LG G3. LG G3 is one of the best smartphones out there and was LG’s Flagship in 2014. It features an impressive 5.5 Inch True HD-IPS+ LCD display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, 534 ppi pixel density, and Gorilla Glass 3 protection along with a Snapdragon 801 SoC with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and Adreno 330 GPU. LG G3 comes with 2 different RAMs according to its storage memory, the 16 GB version comes with a 2 GB RAM and 32 GB version comes with a 3 GB RAM. Along with that, LG G3 features a 13 MP Back Camera and a 2.1 MP Front Camera.
LG G3 comes with a pre-installed stock Recovery as is the case with every Android device out there. Recovery Mode helps in performing certain tasks like Wiping Cache Partition, performing a Factory Data Reset, view Recovery logs if your phone doesn’t boot up etc. The Stock recovery in LG G3 doesn’t have much of the options as compared to a Custom Recovery such as ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery or Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP). Installing a Custom Recovery on your device gives you access to so many things like Flashing a Custom ROM or Custom Kernel to improve your device’s user experience or boost up the speed and battery timing etc. Even though LG G3 is an impressive android device, however, you can make its user experience more exciting by flashing a Custom ROM or kernel. But for that you must know how to Enter Recovery Mode on LG G3 in order to perform any development tasks such as those listed above. How to Enter Recovery Mode on LG G3
1. Using Hardware Buttons
Please note that if your LG G3 is running a Stock Recovery, then this method will also hard reset your device, so it is recommended that you make a backup of your files using the tutorials listed above before proceeding with this method.
Step 1: First of all, turn off your device. Either Press and Hold Power button for 5-6 seconds or just press Power Button once and choose Power Off option.
Step 2: Once your device is powered off completely, press and hold Power Button and Volume Down Button together until the LG Logo appears.
Step 3: Once the LG Logo appears, release the buttons and immediately press both of the buttons again until you see Hard Reset Menu.
Step 4: Press the Power Button to confirm and perform a Hard Reset (this will wipe your data). Your device will enter the Recovery Mode after that.
2. Using ADB Commands
For this method, you’ll need an access to the computer and have Android SDK properly installed on it -> How to Install Android SDK or ADB on Windows
Step 1: Enable USB Debugging from Developer Options if you haven’t already done it.
Step 2: Connect your LG G3 via USB Cable with Computer and navigate to the Android SDK folder.
Step 3: In Android SDK folder, press and hold Shift button then right click on empty space and select Open command window here.
Step 4: Execute the following command in Command Prompt:
adb reboot recovery
That’s it! Your LG G3 will now reboot into Recovery Mode.
3. Using a Third-Party App
For this method to work, your LG G3 should be rooted. All you have to do is install an App from Google Play store and reboot into recovery using that App.
Step 1: Install Quick Boot App from Google Play Store.
Step 2: Open up Quick Boot app and select Recovery.
Step 3: Your device will now Boot into Recovery Mode.
That was all on How to Enter Recovery Mode on LG G3. We recommend using the second method i.e. Using ADB Command as it does not require root access and it won’t be hard resetting your LG G3!
