Huawei spilled the beans about updating B317 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow initially for European users on P8. The update might already be reached to many users but in case you have not received your update as sometimes OTA delays the update for some users or regions. Don’t worry if OTA haven’t given your updates yet because to get OTA updates your android phone must be stocked and root access must not insured. The other way is to download the full fledge firmware package and get the update.
Anyways, the installation of new update is pretty much legal and you will not lose your phone’s warranty at all. However, as a precautionary measure do maintain a backup of your phone’s memory. With installation and updating the firmware might corrupt the system if anything goes wrong or worse all data can be wiped out just in the due process. It is best that you rely on any cloud storage or any other backup devices just as a precaution that you will not regret.
- This guide is only and only for Huawei P8 B317 variant, so DO NOT try this on any other device or you will end up bricking your device.
- You will need to connect your device with a data cable to your PC and enable the USB debugging option. To do so, go to “menu – settings – developer options”.
- Your phone must be at least 70% charge to prevent turning off in the middle and increasing the chances of bricking it.
- Lastly backup all your important things in the device just in case something goes wrong and you end up losing all your data.
