Microsoft finally started rolling out Windows 10 updates to everyone who reserved Free Update for Windows 10! For those, who didn’t get the update need not to worry, you’ll get it automatically if you got the notification for this awesome update or, if you cannot wait to get your hands on it, then you can get it immediately by following this step-by-step tutorial on How to Upgrade to Windows 10 Manually or in other words, force the update!
Windows 10 comes with improved graphics and User Interface along with performance tweaks and many other changes like traditional Windows Start Menu but with a new awesome look and feel. If you’ve already got the notification for free update, I recommend that you wait for sometime and it’ll notify you to upgrade automatically. For those who didn’t even get the notification, you can follow the tutorial below in order to do so.. But, there are some things that you should make sure before proceeding with the update. Things Needed prior to Upgrading to Windows 10:
- You should have a genuinely activated copy of Windows 7/8/8.1.
- Your current Windows should have received all the Important Updates required for Windows 10 Upgrade.
- And last but not the least, make sure that your system meets the requirement for Windows 10:
- RAM: 1GB for 32-bit / 2GB for 64-bit
- Storage: 16GB for 32-bit / 20GB for 64-bit
- CPU: 1GHz or faster
- Graphics: DirectX 9 capable video card

How to Upgrade to Windows 10 Manually:
Step 1: First of all, make sure that you opted in to receive a Free Update to Windows 10. If you haven’t already, then follow this guide to do so: How to Reserve your Free Windows 10 Update
Step 2: Now you should make sure that you receive Windows updates automatically. To do so, head over to Control Panel > Windows Update, or press Windows Key + S and search for “Windows Update”.
Step 3: After that, keep the Windows Update opened, and head over to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete, I repeat DELETE, everything in it!
Step 4: Now, run Command Prompt. Press Windows Key + S and Search for cmd, right click on it and click “Run as administrator”. After that, type in the following command: wuauclt.exe /updatenow
Step 5: Check for updates in Windows Update after a couple of minutes and you’ll see that download has been started for Windows 10 Setup. There’s no specific size of this update because it is different for every version of Windows.
Step 6: At last, once the download is finished, you’ll see “Preparing for Installation” message below the progress bar.
