Narrator is a basic screen reading utility present in operating system and was first introduced in Windows XP. This tool is basically helpful for the visually impaired but it can be used by any user. Its functionality is to read us what’s on the screen.

It can be turned on and off easily by navigating to Ease of Access in Settings app or Control Panel in . It can easily be turned on and off by pressing the Windows logo + Enter keys.

Since it can be turned on by using the keys mentioned above, at times this feature accidently get turned on by pressing the Ctrl + Enter keys. If you want to know quickly turn it off following are the methods to do just that.

Use keyboard shortcut to turn off Narrator in Windows 10

If the shortcut to turn off the narrator is not doing the job you can quickly turn it off by pressing the mute hotkey on the keyboard. This method can be helpful while in a meeting or presentation.

Use mouse to close the Narrator

When the narrator is turned on you can see its icon in the taskbar, simply right-click on it and then press Close Window.

Turn off Narrator in Settings app

Step 1: Open Settings app.

Step 2: Click on Ease of Access.

Step 3: Click on Narrator and then took for the on/off switch and turn it off.

Close Narrator in Control Panel

Step 1: Open Control Panel and then click on Ease of Access.

Step 2: Click Ease of Access Center and then click on Start Narrator.
