The start menu search in Windows 10 is a bit inconsistent. At times it works fine and without any problem but very often it stops doing the functions it supposed to like it doesn’t shows the search results or opens them. This issue has been present since the day one and even after the major threshold 2 update it still persists.
Fortunately the programs and functions can be launched from the Run command as well and users who are having trouble using the search box are using Run command to launch different programs, admin tools and settings.
Start Microsoft Edge from Run command box
Step 1: Open Run command box by pressing Windows logo + R.
Step 2: Type microsoft-edge:// or microsoft-edge: and then press Enter key.
Open Microsoft Edge from Command Prompt or PowerShell
Step 1: Open Command prompt by either typing CMD in she search bar of start menu or Run command box and then press enter. To launch PowerSHell type its name in the search box and then press enter.
Step 2: Now type the following command in both and then press enter.
