Microsoft Edge has been made to compete with the likes of Chrome, Firefox, opera etc. It is the brand new browser of Windows and it is a replacement to . Many users in has switched to Edge as their primary browser. Although it’s great to use but many users have experienced many issues in Edge but has downgraded its value.

For many users the problem is the Edge doesn’t starts at all. It also crashes as soon as it is launched. Others say that Edge is really slow and crashes while loading pages.


If you are having any of the listed problems and you are unable to fix them, reinstalling Edge is the best solution to fix all problems.

You will lose all your data in the browser like history, favorites, bookmarks etc.

Following is the procedure on reinstall in Windows 10.

Reinstalling Microsoft Edge

It is recommended that you create a before trying this procedure.

Step 1: Close Microsoft Edge browser.

Step 2: Open file explorer, click view and then check Hidden items to view all hidden folders. This is because some folders in Windows are hidden by default.


Step 3: Navigate to the following location:


Replace “UserName” with your user name.

You can also go to the above location by typing this path in the Run command box.

Step 4: Search for the folder Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe and delete it. You may get the confirmation dialogue after your press delete, click yes and continue forward.


Whatever files and folders Windows starts to delete patiently wait for the process to complete. It may take about 10-15 minutes. Click yes on all the confirmation dialogues and if Windows is unable to delete some files click skip and continue forward.

Step 5: Close all apps and restart your PC.

Step 6: Now launch PowerShell as administrator, this can be done by typing PowerShell in the start menu search bar and then right-clicking on it.


Step 7: Navigate to the following path:

cd C:\users\yourusername


Replace “yourusername” with actual user name of your account.

Step 8: Now copy and paste the following command in the prompt and press enter.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}


When the command is executed successfully you will see a “operation completed for” message.


Now simply restart your computer, now you will be able to run Microsoft Edge without any issues.
