The photo app is the default photo or image viewer in operating system. The classic Photo Viewer has not been completely removed in Windows 10 but it has been disabled so you need to enable it to make it your default photo viewer in Windows 10.

The new is not just an image viewer but it also offers basic image editing and optimizing tools as well. It offers you add various effects and filters to your photos. With Photos app, you can crop, rotate, straighten, and retouch your images. The app also allows you remove red eye from images.

If the Windows 10 Photo app is not working properly like not opening like not opening, crashing after opening, not displaying images or any other error you can fix those issues by uninstalling and then reinstalling the app.

However, like any other default Windows 10 apps, the Photos app can’t be uninstalled via Settings app. In this guide, we will see easily uninstall and then install the Photos app in Windows 10.

Two ways to reinstall Photos app in Windows 10

Method 1 of 2

Reinstall Photos app in Windows 10 using PowerShell

Step 1: Open PowerShell as administrator. To do that open start menu and then type PowerShell in the search box, right-click on it and then click Run as administrator.

Step 2: Now type the following command and press enter.

Get-AppxPackage –AllUsers

Step 3: Now scroll down and look for the entry named Microsoft.Windows.Photos and copy its PackageFullName to notepad.

Step 4: Now type the following command and press enter.

remove-AppxPackage PackageFullName

In the above command, replace PackageFullName with the PackageFullName of Photos app that you copied to notepad in Step 3.

Step 5: Now that you have uninstalled the Photos app from the Windows 10, it’s time to reinstall it from the Windows store.

Store 6: Now launch the store, type in Photos app in the search bar and then press enter. Now click on the free button to download and install it. If the button is not available close and launch the store again.

The app should now be downloaded and installed.

Method 2 of 2

Reinstall the photos app using CCleaner

Step 1: Download from the link below if not already installed.

Step 2: Launch CCleaner, click Tools and then click Uninstall to view all installed apps.

Step 3: Locate the entry named Photos, right-click on it, and click Uninstall button to uninstall it. Click OK button when you see the confirmation dialog.

Step 4: Now launch the store, type in Photos app in the search bar and then press enter. Now click on the free button to download and install it. If the button is not available close and launch the store again.
