With default settings when a new notifications arrives in , a notification bar becomes visible on the bottom of the screen simultaneously playing a sound. It appears for a few seconds before disappearing automatically.

However many users prefer only the visual notification and not the sound as they find it a little annoying. It can cause a disturbance while you are in the middle of some other stuff like watching a move, chatting etc.

One way to turn off the notification sound is the mute button but it won’t be of many use as it will turn off all the sounds. Other way is to use Quite Hours feature, but it turns off but visual and audio notifications.
